Jennifer Mrozowski

Executive Director of Communications, Detroit Public Schools

Jennifer Mrozowski, a career journalist who grew up in the city of Detroit, came to DPS in 2009 to expand the schools’ and the district’s use of social media and other communications vehicles, and to bring her 13 years of experience at 5 newspapers to the DPS communications team to shine a positive light on the Great Things Happening in DPS.

Mrozowski is an award-winning journalist and served as an education reporter for the Detroit News and the Cincinnati Enquirer. In her role as Executive Director of Communications at Detroit Public Schools, Mrozowski works with internal and external groups and various departments, including the Office of Parent and Community Engagement, to vastly increase the reach of communications to parents, guardians, the community, state and national audiences. No longer a reporter, she loves finally to be an unabashed advocate for Detroit and to shout her support for the city she loves.

She also is a mommy to two little girls who keep her constantly busy and grounded and who remind her every second of every day why it’s important to advocate for children and their education.
