Kristan Schiller is a travel and lifestyle journalist whose writing has appeared in The New York Times, National Geographic Traveler, Town & Country, Conde Nast Traveler, Fodor’s, Berlitz, and Salon.com. She also works as a copywriter for the upscale clothier, The J. Peterman Company. Among other adventures, Schiller has walked the Serengeti for weeks with nothing but a fold-up tent and a Masai guide, sailed around New Zealand’s North and South Islands, and ridden horseback at night in India’s Thar Desert. Schiller holds a BA in Creative Writing from Middlebury College and a Master’s Degree in African Studies from the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS.)
