Orri Vigfússon

Founder, the North Atlantic Salmon Fund (NASF)

Orri Vigfússon was born in 1942 in Siglufjordur, a small fishing town in the north of Iceland. As an enterprising businessman and life-long outdoorsman, Orri first became aware of the decline in Atlantic salmon stocks while fishing Icelandic rivers during the 1970s. He subsequently founded the North Atlantic Salmon Fund (NASF) and, in his position as chairman, has worked tirelessly ever since to conserve this iconic species for future generations. Orri was awarded the Goldman Environmental Prize in 2007.
