Singley Risico

High school student in Pennsylvania

Born in New York City, Singley Risico resides in Philadelphia, PA with her parents and younger sister. Singley enjoys running for both cross-country and track, and also plays basketball during her winter term. Singley recently worked with the Sister Action Media Program at Philly Cam Media Workshop to create an original short film addressing the lack of diversity and the harmful effects of using airbrushing and other unrealistic techniques in magazines for teen girls. The film had two popular screenings and was included as part of the SPARK campaign, which successfully lobbied Seventeen Magazine to be more inclusive and to stop altering the bodies of girls featured in the magazine. Singley is a 9th-grader at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy.
