THE SMUGGYS (SMOOH-geez) wish to inform readers that their name is pronounced SMOOH-geez, with a hard "g." Thus, SMUGGYS rhymes with…well, with not very much. Let us just say that if Doogie Howser owned an elephant, and someone were to ask, "Whose elephant is that?," the answer would be, "Doogie's." Which rhymes with SMUGGYS.

THE SMOOGYS (SMOOH-geez, rhm. with "Goo, please.") are a married couple who take almost incalculable pleasure in reading, hearing, and talking about the travails of the Bush administration, the Republican Party, and the religious right. No scandal is too repellent, no documented case of corruption is too contemptible, no demonstration of sheer incompetence is too disheartening, for this sophisticated, elegant pair. The worse the news is for Republicans, the more the SMUGGYS ("SMOOH-geez," rhm. w/ "loogies") like it.

Don't the SMUGGYS (SMOOH-geez, rhm. w/ "You tease!"), in their unconcealed delight at the approaching Republican meltdown, sound sprightly and animated? Funny you should think so, because in the near-ish future they will appear in a series of droll, sprightly animations at www.vidlit.com. Not yet, no. Alas. But soon. We, or they, will tell you when.
