Barack Obama: Look To A Veteran 'Whenever The World Makes You Cynical'

President Barack Obama visited Arlington National Cemetery to honor veterans on Friday, giving his last Veterans Day address while in office.

Obama alluded to the anger many feel over the results of the presidential election, telling Americans to look to veterans for hope.

“Whenever the world makes you cynical, whenever you seek true humility and selflessness, look to a veteran,” he said.

The president said Americans “can never serve our veterans in quite the way that they served us,” but he urged citizens to try by performing acts of kindness toward one another.

“We can practice kindness, we can pay it forward, we can volunteer, we can serve,” Obama said. “We can respect one another. We can always get each others’ backs. That is what Veterans Day asks all of us to think about.”

While in Arlington, Virginia, Obama also laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns and took part in a moment of silence.
