Legendary blues musician B.B. King died on Thursday at the age of 89. His death marks a solemn moment for his countless fans but also reinvigorates memories of his magnificent music and remarkable contributions to African-American history and culture.
Known for his trademark guitar skills and smooth vocals, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer redefined the blues genre for over 65 years. He has inspired legions of musicians including Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Jimi Hendrix. The innovative icon was also responsible for chart-topping hits “The Thrill is Gone,” “How Blue Can You Get,” and “Three O’clock Blues,” to name a few.
