Pin-up star Bettie Page was also an FBI informant, The Smoking Gun reports. After police raided a Harlem apartment in 1957, and found "a cache of obscene magazines and photos, paddles, a riding crop, a whip, and lengths of chain, rawhide, and rope," FBI agents enlisted Page's help to determine if the apartment had been used as a pornographic photography studio. Page told investigators that she "had never heard of that type of photography being made in Harlem."
The obscene magazines were then sent to Washington to be examined at the FBI laboratory.
