The public furor around unreleased files related to disgraced late financier Jeffrey Epstein continues to rage on.

Earlier this week, new documents were released allegedly depicting facets of US President Donald Trump’s relationship with Epstein — including an allegation that documented, in CNN’s words, “Epstein’s claim that Trump ‘spent hours’ with a trafficking and rape victim inside his home.”

In response, the US Justice Department confirmed that, at Trump’s request, they’d be investigating Epstein’s ties to former US president Bill Clinton, as well as the banks JP Morgan and Chase, former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers and LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman (who is a donor for the Democratic Party).

US Attorney General Pam Bondi also said that the agency would pursue the investigation “with urgency and integrity.”

In response, former president Clinton’s spokesperson Angel Ureña issued a statement on X addressing the investigation itself.
“These emails prove Bill Clinton did nothing and knew nothing,” the statement read. “The rest is noise meant to distract from election losses, backfiring shutdowns, and who knows what else.”

As it is with all things in American politics these days, we’ll just have to see what happens next.
