Pregnant Woman Vanishes On Day She Was Scheduled To Give Birth

North Carolina police are searching for a pregnant woman who disappeared as her older daughter fueled up the car to drive her to the hospital to deliver the baby.

Carrie Bradshaw Crowther, 49, was reported missing from Salisbury, North Carolina, on Tuesday morning. Police said she was spotted a day later in Statesville, North Carolina, some 25 miles away, in a convenience store, WCNC reports. Crowther had been scheduled to give birth via cesarean section on Tuesday.

"I needed gas before we went to the hospital in Charlotte, and then, we were gone about 7 or 8 minutes, when we got back she was gone," Crowther's older daughter, Lauren Lusk, told WBTV. “Nothing was missing, she was just gone.”

Crowther's pregnancy was considered to be at high risk for complications, Lusk told WSOC.

Police said Crowther is driving a champagne-colored 2001 Mazda MPV van with expired Kansas license plates. Relatives have posted messages on her Facebook page asking for people to contact them with any tips.

Information can also be shared with the Salisbury Police Department at 704-638-5333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245.
