Beef Recall: E. Coli Prompts Dale T. Smith And Sons To Pull 38,200 Pounds Of Product

Another day, another beef recall. This time a Utah company -- Dale T. Smith and Sons Meat Packing -- is recalling 38,200 pounds of beef products due to possible e. coli contamination, according to a USDA release.

The products were distributed to wholesale and retail stores in California and Salt Lake City, Utah. Here's what is being recalled:

• Various weight combo bins of Boneless Beef "50/50," "85/15," "90/10," "93/07" or "95/05" produced on Aug. 7, 2012
• Various weight boxes of primal cuts, subprimal cuts and boxed beef produced on Aug. 7, 2012

The potential e. coli was detected through lab testing by the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service, and there have been no reported illnesses. "We're truly grateful that the issue was detected through testing and not because of any illness," company vice president Dennis Smith said in a statement.

The contamination might have occurred due to refrigerator malfunction.
