His looks couldn’t get him out of prison.
Jeremy Meeks, dubbed the “Hot Convict” over his purportedly sexy mugshot, was sentenced to more than two years in prison after a conviction of being a felon in possession of a firearm, CBS 13 reports.
A judge handed down the 27-month sentence on Thursday morning and ordered Meeks to undergo a 500-hour substance abuse treatment program with the Bureau of Prisons.
Meeks was arrested on weapons charges and one gang charge in Stockton, California, last June, and the public went nuts with lust after police posted the photo on their department Facebook page. The above-average mugshot was even rumored to land Meeks a modeling gig, but a representative from the talent agency that made the offer later stated Meeks hadn’t signed a contract.
In a jailhouse interview shortly after his photo became an internet sensation, Meeks said he “appreciates” all the attention, but what he really wants is for people to realize that the accusations against him don’t reflect who he really is.
“I want them to know that this is really not me,” he told News10. “I’m not some kingpin.”
