Joe Walsh Releases First TV Ad: 'You've Probably Heard A Little Bit About Me'

Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) released his first TV ad on Sunday, trying to make the case to voters in the district that he's just a regular guy concerned about out-of-control government spending.

"I'm Joe Walsh. You've probably heard a little bit about me," Walsh says in the spot, which his campaign said debuted on TV during the closing ceremonies of the Olympics.

In the ad, Walsh describes how he was born and raised in Chicago's northwest suburbs to a "big old Irish-Catholic family of nine kids," he sleeps in his congressional office, hosts many town halls with constituents and has promised to serve in office no more than three terms.

"I didn't go to Washington to make friends or worry about my next election," he adds.

Walsh's ad is no doubt an attempt to combat the reputation he's been gaining on the national stage, where he's become best-known lately for his attacks on his Democratic opponent Tammy Duckworth.

He found himself on the defensive after saying his opponent -- a veteran who lost both of her legs while serving in Iraq -- was not a "true hero" because she discusses her service to the nation too often.
