Lee Turner Humboldt Park Robbery: $250,000 Bail Set For Man Charged In $3 Armed Stick-Up

Bail Set At $250,000 For $3 Armed Robbery

For accused Chicago robber Lee Turner, crime really doesn't pay.

While Lee made off with just $3 after allegedly robbing a 19 year-old at gunpoint in Humboldt Park Saturday, his eventual bond wasn't quite as paltry.

Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Joell Zahr said Turner confronted the victim and a witness around 11:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of West Chicago Avenue when the teen got out of a car to buy cigarettes, reports DNAinfo Chicago. After allegedly asking the victim "What you got?" Turner pulled the victim to an empty lot and pointed a gun at him.

Police say the teen handed Turner $3 from his pocket, which Turner grabbed before fleeing in a Cadillac Escalade, reports the Tribune. The victim and a witness chased Turner by car, but police nabbed him for a traffic violation a short distance later where cops also recovered a loaded semi-automatic pistol.

Turner was charged with armed robbery and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon; he has a string of seven past felony convictions, six of which are narcotics related, prosecutors said. Turner returns to court March 15.

According to Chicago police data, there have been 113 robberies in District 11, the scene of the crime, so far this year, down roughly 23 percent from the same time last year.
