The highly anticipated premier of the Joffrey Ballet’s brand new The Nutcracker is still months away, but balletomanes can get a taste of what’s to come this Thursday, Sept. 8 when the company plans to live stream a rehearsal with the ballet’s Tony Award® winning choreographer Christopher Wheeldon.

Wheeldon is joined by an all-star team of collaborators, who together have reimagined the classic ballet by moving its setting to the 1893 Columbian Exposition, an event that is iconic to Chicago. So far, Joffrey has kept all the details of its $4 Million undertaking under wraps; Thursday’s live stream will be the public’s first opportunity to get a glimpse at the world premier of a Nutcracker that promises to be very, very special.

Wheeldon will be interviewed by Joffrey Artistic Director Ashley Wheater during a rehearsal break, and Joffrey representatives will be available through various social media channels like Twitter and Facebook to answer questions.

Tune in to the Joffrey’s online YouTube channel, 11:30 am – 1:30 pm (CT) Thursday, Sept. 8. More information is available at joffrey.org.
