Marvel TV Universe Levels Up With First 'Luke Cage,' 'Iron Fist' And 'The Defenders' Trailers

Today’s a good day to be a Marvel fan.

San Diego’s Comic-Con has barely started, but Marvel decided to beat the trailer rush by dropping the first teasers for three upcoming series: “Luke Cage,” “Iron Fist” and the highly anticipated superhero team-up “The Defenders.”

On Thursday, the convention played host to the “Luke Cage” panel, where the Marvel powers that be surprised fans with the full trailer for the series starring fan favorite Mike Colter.

“There’s never been a time in history where having a bulletproof black man ... not only changes law enforcement but also changes the criminal world,” “Luke Cage” creator Cheo Hodari told Entertainment Weekly at the convention. “And really, in a sense, it’s like Luke’s entrance into this world changes the ecology of the entire neighborhood.”

Those in attendance were also treated to teasers showing the first glimpses of Finn Jones’ “Iron Fist,” expected debut in 2017, and the culmination of Marvel’s Netflix experiment, “The Defenders,” which unites Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Daredevil and Jessica Jones for one epic crossover event.
