Expanding on Sen. Landrieu's charge on "This Week" today, the War and Piece blog provides these translations from German television about the now-you-see-it-now-you-don't aid along the Mississippi Gulf Coast as the President passed through.
Incidentally, this coverage, and the coverage I've been linking to regarding largely white St. Bernard and St. Tammany and Plaquemines Parishes as well as the Mississippi Gulf Coast, should put to rest accusations that the problem here is one of racism. The problem here is one of competence. Natiional media found it easier to get into New Orleans, where most of the victims of this process were poor and black. It took much longer to establish communication with the outlying parishes, where the victims were largely white.
