Princess Charlotte's Official Christening Photos Are More Candid Than Expected

On Sunday, we all waited with bated breath for Princess Charlotte's christening and we have to say, it definitely lived up to expectations. Between the stunning outfits and Prince George's little tantrum, it was an affair to remember. And now another monumental day has come for the little princess, as her official christening portraits have been released.

Thursday morning, the Kensington Palace Twitter account tweeted a few adorable shots from Princess Charlotte's big day, taken by the one and only Mario Testino.

The images definitely have a more playful and candid vibe than Prince George's christening portraits, which makes sense, given they used a different photographer.

While George's more formal photos were shot by English portrait and fashion photographer Jason Bell, Charlotte's were taken by Peruvian fashion photographer Testino. He has a long-standing relationship with the royal family, which began in 1997 when he was asked to photograph Princess Diana in a few dresses she was about to auction off for charity. From there, his relationship with the royal family grew, and Testino was asked to take photos of the princes through adolescence and later, Prince William and Kate Middleton's engagement portraits in 2011.

Of course, we love all the photos from Princess Charlotte's christening, but our favorite has to be the intimate photo of little George and his dad laughing.

The royal family seems to have loosened up a bit for the princess' christening, not only by releasing more lively images, but also by inviting the public to wait outside the church during the event. Maybe this signifies a new, more laid-back era for the royal family? One can only hope.
