Sadat Family Sues Over Film Dog Named After Former Leader

The daughter of assassinated Egyptian president Anwar Sadat is filing a lawsuit after a film character named his dog after the leader, BBC reports.

A character in the Hollywood hit "I Love You Man" says he named his pet after Sadat because "they look exactly alike."

Lawyer Samir Sabri has called for an apology from the US embassy over the film, says the BBC.

Kabobfest has been tracking the reactions of Egyptian bloggers who complain that the dog's name is yet another negative portrayal of Arabs in Hollywood movies.

Others say it is simply a tactic to get cheap laughs and is not intended as an insult.

Sadat's popularity fell during his final years in office, and he was assassinated during an annual parade in Cairo in 1981.
