What literary personality would you be? D.H. Lawrence

What item do you wear every day? My great-grandmother's diamond ring

Kindle or book? Definitely books.

If you could have one super power what would it be? I always say that my superpower is that I have an amazing sense of direction -- I never get lost, and if I've been somewhere once, no matter how long ago it was, I can always find my way back. But if I could choose a real superpower I think I'd want to be able to fly.

What was your first designer purchase? The first really beautiful designer piece I had was a Comme des Garçons coat the first year I lived in Paris. I had tried it on in the store probably five times, and my boyfriend went back and got it for me for my 22nd birthday.

What's your signature scent? Serge Lutens "Chêne" in the winter, Hermès "Un Jardin en Mediterranee" in the summer.

Last song you downloaded? I never download music these days. My iPods were both stolen, so I've been listening to CDs in my car, and they're all the same CD's I've had since high school -- so Led Zeppelin 3 and Nas "Illmatic" are currently in heavy rotation.

If you could only shop in one store for the rest of your life what would it be? Maybe the Bon Marché in Paris? I could buy food too that way.

What's your ideal summer travel destination?
Always Italy.

What's your guilty pleasure? Trashy magazines when I'm getting a pedicure. But I don't even feel guilty. I just know I should because they're gross.

What's on your nightstand? Usually a bunch of things I'm halfway through reading. Right now it's When Marina Abromivic Dies by James Westcott, Brothers and Keepers by John Edgar Wideman, Triple Time by Anne Sanow, a book of baby names because I'm having a baby in the fall, and a huge stack of half-read New Yorkers. Also my journal, cocoa butter, and, unfortunately, my Blackberry.

If you had to wear clothes from one decade only, what would it be? The '70s. I already kind of do.
