Now that the election is behind us, it’s time for Americans to unite and focus on issues of importance to everyone. While healthcare reform receives a significant amount of attention, we need to ensure medical research and education both continue and grow. We need to make certain adequate funding is provided for the surveillance, quantification and research of medical disorders that affect the daily lives of Americans across the country.

Tourette and tic disorders are not a political issue. Our constituency is not only impacted on a daily basis by physical symptoms, but they are also affected by a lack of understanding of Tourette and tic disorders in their community. Funding for key medical research and education is critical to not only improve lives, but also to reduce healthcare costs and improve diagnosis and treatment.

As the 115th Congress and the Trump Administration begins, the Tourette Association of America is focused on our top public policy priorities. And to guide us along this journey, we are pleased to announce that Diana Felner has joined the TAA leadership team as VP, Public Policy.

In this role, Ms. Felner, along with support from Dentons, will continue to advance the TAA’s presence in Washington, as well as provide strategic direction for and ensure the implementation of the Tourette Association’s public policy activities. She brings with her over 20 years of experience in government and regulatory affairs, and we are excited to have her join us at this time.

This is both an uncertain and exciting time as the United States ushers in new leadership. But our focus and commitment to support people with Tourette and other neurological conditions remains steadfast.
