Unlearn How to Be an Adult

It's time to unlearn what it means to be an adult. Hell, let's throw the word adult right out of the dictionary. Let's bring imagination back. Let's love everyone for who and what they are inside and out. Let's lead with kindness and truth.

This little thing happens when we grow up: We forget how to play. We forget what it felt like to wake up in the morning ready to discover a brand new world. To be curious. To be light. To laugh uncontrollably at nothing. And for nothing but the wind to sweep us into some sort of adventure filled with trees, dirt and friends. Friends, that were either visible to the human eye or just part of a brief moment that we created with our imagination. At some point, we grew up and we stopped asking our friends to play.

We grew up, got "educated," put on a suit and headed into the "real world." In the process we left our friends behind. And those endless days of adventure became nothing more than nostalgic memories. Getting dirty was replaced with being refined. Being politically correct and rising to the top became more important than truth, kindness and imagination. And rather than showing love to someone who at one time would have been invited into our adventure as our best friend, we learned how to show snobbery and pass judgement to those who appear "lesser" than the "in crowd." Or worse, we limit rights and take away freedom gifted at birth from those who appear "lesser" based on our beliefs and how we choose to see the world.

It's time to unlearn what it means to be an adult. Hell, let's throw the word adult right out of the dictionary. Let's bring imagination back. Let's love everyone for who and what they are inside and out. Let's lead with kindness and truth. And tomorrow morning, let's wake up and play. Let's wake up and allow nothing but the wind to sweep us into some sort of adventure filled with trees, dirt and friends -- even if those friends are just part of a brief moment that we create with our imagination.

HuffPost's GPS for the Soul app is based on two truths about human beings. First: We all have a centered place of wisdom, harmony and balance within us. Second: We're all going to veer away from that place, again and again and again. What we need is a great course-correcting mechanism -- a GPS for the Soul -- to help us find our way back to that centered place, from which everything is possible.

Because no one knows better than you what helps you de-stress and tap into that place of peace inside yourself, it's important for you to create your very own GPS guide -- a personalized collection of whatever helps you course-correct. Email us at GPS@huffingtonpost.com and we'll set you up with your very own HuffPost blogger account to share your guide on the site. If you're already a blogger, we encourage you to upload your personal guide today. We can't wait to see what you have to share.
