Warpaint, 'Billie Holiday'

Warpaint's "Billie Holiday" is half ode to Billie Holiday, half cover of "My Guy." After spelling out Billie Holliday's name for a few verses, they get into the Mary Wells hit single from 1964, drawing out the words ("nothing you can say to tear to tear me away from my guy") that Wells managed to make so cheery.

According to the Fader, John Frusciante of Red Hot Chili Pepper fame produced the single. The track, which first appeared on Warpaint's debut EP, Exquisite Corpse, will be re-released on Sept. 29 for a deluxe edition of the band’s album The Fool.
