nostalgia
Nostalgia often affects our attitudes about change. The notion that "life was nicer when I was growing up" has been circulating in this country for generations.
One day there will even be nostalgia for the disaster we're in right now. Someone will sell credit default swap lunch boxes and make a movie about the fall of AIG starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.
No, who am I kidding -- I am old school, but trying my best to keep up. I vow to actively use LinkedIn and Facebook this year.
WHAT'S HAPPENING
The more lonely people are, the more nostalgic they tend to become as a way of increasing their self-perceived feeling of social support.
More people say they'd rather have a smaller phone with less features than a larger phone with more capabilities. Can it be that we're actually ready to simplify? Is multi-tasking on its way out?
I have always loved Disneyland. I'm not ashamed to say it. Even as a five year-old curmudgeon I marveled at the imagination, scope, and vision of this wondrous (albeit highly profitable) world.
