Roy, who was denied a ticked by the BJP, is leading by 5,894 votes from Jamshedpur East.
The Congress-JMM-RJD alliance is leading in 45 seats with BJP ahead in 26.
The polling that began at 7 am in all assembly segments will end at 3 pm in five constituencies of Borio, Barhait, Litipara, Maheshpur and Sikaripara.
A total of 189 candidates are in the fray for 13 assembly constituencies for which the polling will be held in five phases commencing from November 30.
