Amer Khan, M.D.

Sleep Specialist, Child Neurologist, and Founder, Sehatu Sleep & Yoga Studio

Amer Khan, M.D. is board certified in Sleep Medicine, and in Neurology with special qualification in Child Neurology. He leads the division of sleep medicine at a large multispecialty medical group in the Sacramento area.

In his medical practice he treats adults and children, and addresses the full spectrum of sleep problems including insomnia, sleep apnea, narcolepsy, sleepwalking and restless leg syndrome.

Dr. Khan received his medical degree from Karachi University, Pakistan. He completed his pediatric residency at Cook County Children's Hospital, Chicago, and child neurology fellowship at the University Of Minnesota School Of Medicine, Minneapolis. He provided pediatric medical care in a small medically underserved rural community in Florida and has participated in medical relief missions overseas.

He realized early in his career that many health conditions are triggered, caused or aggravated by lack of restful sleep. This led him to pursue his education in sleep medicine.

Dr. Khan conceived the vision to train individuals in deep relaxation techniques so that they can de-stress, relax, focus and sleep better, leading to optimum mental and physical performance.

He opened a studio called Sehatu Sleep, in Granite Bay, California, which he owns with his wife, Iram Khan, a yoga instructor.

Dr. Khan frequently lectures and writes a blog about sleep issues. He is an active member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, California Sleep Society, Child Neurology Society and the American Academy of Neurology. He lives with his wife and two children in Granite Bay.
