Brave New Fellows Program Coordinator

Angel Mortel is the Fellowship Program Coordinator at Brave New Films. In 2015, she started the Brave New Fellows Program which is a one year, paid fellowship for activists who want to use film in their work for social justice. Angel spent over 15 years in Brazil where she was involved in organizing community health volunteers, coordinating an income generation project for women and fundraising for prison ministry. Her passion for social justice grew out of her experiences in Brazil, but also from living and teaching in inner city Washington, DC and working with Bread for the World and Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns. She has a BA in English and Third World Studies from Oberlin College and an MA in International Development from American University.
