Erica Boddie

Labor worker, SEIU-UHW Member

I’m Erica Boddie, a front line labor worker of 28 years for Kaiser Permanente, and an original member of “Local 250”, which is now SEIU-UHW.

Born and raised, “a native San Franciscan” – I grew up in Bayview Hunters Point as well as the Western Addition Community. I graduated from St. Mary’s Cathedral High School in 1980, attended college and was hired into by Kaiser Permanente in 1982. As a community service leader, I worked at KPOO Radio station as DJ “Lady Bee” from the mid 90’s up until the year 2000. Delivering a diverse range of music, community updates, and broadcasting the San Francisco Board of Supervisors meetings were among the many wonderful responsibilities I enjoyed while working at the radio station.

Operating as a Chief Steward and Rep. Chair for the San Francisco Steward Council, I lead and mentor other stewards in representing union employee issues to ensure fairness in their daily work lives. I also serve as the Labor Tri-Chair for the S.F. Kaiser Workplace Safety program and teach a variety of Safety classes. Networking with local politicians, community activists, as well as interviewing Barack Obama during his candidacy for President as our union representative are among the highlights of my union activity.
