Experimental film and documentary maker
Russell Sheaffer is an experimental film and documentary maker with a strong academic background whose films have screened at venues including the MoMA, UCLA, the University of Wisconsin at Madison, Torino GLBT Film Festival, Boston LGBT Film Festival, Queer Lisboa, and the Anthology Film Archives. He graduated with an M.A. in Cinema Studies from NYU and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Communication and Culture at Indiana University where he's in post-production on the experimental feature film Masculinity/Femininity (based on a short film that he co-wrote and co-directed with James Franco). He has worked in various capacities as a producer on numerous narrative and documentary films including ESPN’s Nine for IX documentary The Diplomat, Josephine Decker's Thou Wast Mild and Lovely, and the documentary segments of Glee: The 3D Movie.
