Tom Patterson is a consultant to the FBI and other components of America’s war on cyber threats, and is a founder of the non-profit National Security Grid, which is focused linking Federal security resources from the FBI, DHS, DoD, NCIX and others with the ‘critical million’ small and mid-sized American companies that comprise our critical infrastructure. NSGrid will provide a trusted link that shares information on threats and provide cost-effective countermeasures to help critical infrastructure companies counter the real threats coming from foreign intelligence services, organized crime and terrorist organizations.

Previously, Tom founded Command Information in 2005, raising money from the Carlyle Group and acquiring 3 companies, to form the largest and fastest growing next generation Internet solutions company in America, with over $50 million dollars of revenue and over 350 employees. Tom built Command to provide next- generation services and solutions to the Fortune 500 and Federal, State, and local governments.

Earlier, Tom has been the partner in charge of security services for Deloitte in Europe, the Middle East and Africa; the founding managing director of BearingPoint’s global managed services business; and IBM's chief strategist for electronic commerce. He has served as an outside board member for two public companies, and has advised all three branches of the U.S. Government on Internet and security policy. Tom carries a current Top Secret security clearance, remains an advisor to the Federal government, and has published a critically acclaimed book, Mapping Security, on information security, privacy and governance around the world.

Tom received his Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management from the University of Maryland, and is a periodic lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
