9 Rejected 'New Yorker' Cartoons From 'The Best Of The Rejection Collection' (PICTURES)

The New Yorker is known for its witty cartoons, but they often elicit a smirk or a chuckle rather than a full-blown LOL.

However, we don't think you'll have any problem doing a spit-take after seeing these cartoons that didn't make it into print.

From "The Best Of The Rejection Collection: 293 Cartoons That Were Too Dumb, Too Dark, Or Too Naughty For The New Yorker," the latest collection of "rescued" cartoons from cartoonist Matt Diffee, come these nine favorites of ours below -- and there are 284 more where that came from.

Every week The New Yorker receives 500 cartoon submissions, so you have to believe there are some outrageous (and outrageously bad) ones in there. Thankfully, Diffee gets a hold of them before they hit the paper shredder and compiles them into convenient compilations.

Check out these nine dark, twisted and/or simply inappropriate rejected cartoons below (vote for your favorite!) and be sure to pick up a copy of the book, now in stores.
