'Amityville Horror' Home Up For Sale

'Amityville Horror' Home For Sale

The real star of the 1979 film "The Amityville Horror" is up for sale. Owners are asking $1.35 million for the New Jersey colonial-style home, reports the New York Post.

The 10-room house at 18 Brooks Road in Toms River hit the market last month, priced at $1.45 million, but its owners have since dropped the price, reports CBS New York.

Owners Odalys and Jose Fragoso bought the house in 2001, and say it's not haunted, just beautiful. In 1981 the home was moved after filming wrapped and positioned directly on Brooks Road, rather than toward the corner of Brooks and Dock Street, reports the Detroit Free Press.

The Long Island house at 112 Ocean Avenue where the original Amityville murders took place was up for sale in 2010, listed for $1.15 million. The home was the real site of the 1974 murders of six members of the DeFeo family who were shot and killed while they slept by the family's eldest son Ronald. That home first sold for $55,000 shortly after the murders to the Lutz family who left after 28 days of being terrorized by spirits. Their story became the 1977 best-selling book by Jay Anson, followed by the Oscar-winning film franchise.
