Blake Lively Reps Gucci Premiere Perfume, Ditches Former BFF Karl Lagerfeld

Uh oh, looks like the roses do smell sweeter on the other side. Chanel competitor Gucci named Blake Lively, Karl Lagerfeld's (now former?) BFF, the new face of its fragrance Gucci Première, Women's Wear Daily reports.

Lively was once the muse for Chanel's chief designer, but now it would appear that she's jumped ship. The 24-year-old actress filmed a commercial short for Gucci's fragrance that will air at the Venice Film Festival in September.

"Gucci is a staple. It is a brand I have always looked up to because to me it represents strength," Lively told WWD. "In their designs, in their images, in what they stand for philanthropically, and especially in their fragrance."

It wasn't long ago Lively was expressing her excitement about her then-newfound role as a Chanel ambassador and the face of the brand's Mademoiselle bags.

"How did Cinderella feel when she slipped on the glass slipper? How did Snow White feel when she met her Prince Charming? A dream come true is an understatement. I can say that I feel like the happiest, luckiest girl around," the Gossip Girl actress told WWD last January.

Aside from her official role at Chanel, Lively became a close friend to Lagerfeld, even accompanying him to the Met gala last year. But it appears their relationship has simmered; Lively has been absent at recent Chanel shows, as Fashionista points out.

Whether it was a falling out between the two or just business is anyone's guess, but we're partial to believe Lively wanted a change of scene. After all, she is getting pretty hot in Hollywood right now with her shift from the small to the big screen. Her next film "Savages" will premiere on July 6.

Sorry, Karl. It looks like your "American dream girl" has moved on.
