Brian Replaced In 'Family Guy' Credits After Death

A week after "Family Guy" killed off the family dog, Brian Griffin, the Fox show aired new opening credits featuring the replacement dog, Vinnie (voiced by "The Sopranos" star Tony Sirico).

The Griffins adopted Vinnie in the Nov 24. episode, "Life of Brian," when a car ran over TV's favorite martini-swiling dog. The new intro (the first 30 seconds of the above video) is nearly identical to the old one, except for, of course, the dog. Vinnie performs Brian's same exact dance moves in his same exact costume.

After Brian's death, the internet was furious with show creator Seth MacFarlane, who also voiced Brian, and a petition went up asking him to bring back the beloved pooch.

Turns out, fans' efforts may have worked. According to EW, Brian will appear in the Dec. 15 episode, "Christmas Guy." Its official description reads, "Stewie devises a master plan to get the one and only thing he wants for Christmas." If that isn't a call for Brian, we'll be shocked.

What do you think about the new opening credits? Can we assume Brian will be back?

"Family Guy" airs Sundays, 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
