Camarillo Wildfire Photos

Frightening Photos Of The Wildfire Creeping Up To Homes

Frightening photos of the growing Southern California wildfire have emerged on social media as reporters and residents retreat to evacuation centers in Camarillo and nearby Thousand Oaks.

In this photo tweeted by journalist Ed Hornick, an adult leads a child across a school campus as the wildfire burns in the background.

For the most up-to-date information on the wildfire, check out the Associated Press.

Hornick also tweeted a panorama photo that showed the wildfire creeping up to the edge of a neighborhood.

So far, Cal State Channel Islands university was evacuated as part of the campus caught fire, and Pacific Coast Highway through Camarillo is completely closed.

More than 500 firefighters are battling the blaze, which has already engulfed more than 10 square miles, reports the Associated Press. While no homes have been burned, a group of RVs in a parking lot were destroyed. The fire began Thursday morning along the U.S. 101 freeway near Camarillo, which is about 50 miles west of Los Angeles in Ventura County.

Below are more photos of the Camarillo fire from the Associated Press.
