Rare Wolf That Traveled To Colorado From Montana Was Poisoned

Wolf That Trekked 1000 Miles Killed By Illegal Poison ‎

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) says a wolf that wandered into Colorado from the Yellowstone area in 2009 was killed by illegal poison.

The USFWS says that Compound 1080 killed the wolf, which wandered away from its pack in Montana. Compound 1080's only legal use in the United States is to protect sheep herds from predators, but the chemical has been outlawed in Colorado.

Gray Wolves in Colorado are protected under the Endangered Species Act. The USFWS is now asking the public's assistance is helping to find the source of the Compound 1080 that killed the two-year-old female.
