CW Pilot Update: Orders 'Hunger Games'-Style Drama, J.J. Abrams Drama, Stephen Amell Cast As Green Arrow

CW Orders 'Hunger Games'-Style Pilot & New J.J. Abrams Show

The CW is currently in a pilot-ordering frenzy. The teen-centric network has orded three very interesting new pilots, including one that very reminiscent of Suzanne Collins' "Hunger Games" trilogy.

While Katniss Everdeen herself will not be stepping onto the small screen any time soon, the new CW pilot, based off another series of books by Kiera Cass, "is an epic romance set 300 years in the future which centers on a poor young woman who is chosen by lottery to participate in a competition to become the next queen of a war-torn nation at a crossroads," reports EW.com.

Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain will serve as executive producers and writers for the project.

Meanwhile, the network also ordered a new J.J. Abrams drama, called "Shelter." The new Abrams drama is reportedly set at a historic New England summer resort where, according to EW.com, "the staff attend to the practical, emotional, and often comical needs of the guests while navigating friendships, rivalries, and romances of their own."

Recently, the CW cast a leading actor for their Green Arrow pilot "Arrow."

"Hung" star Stephen Amell has been cast as the famous DC Comics character, reports The Hollywood Reporter. The network ordered the superhero pilot in January. The executive producers and writers are none other than "Green Lantern" movie creators Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, plus "Fringe" vet Andrew Kreisberg.

Veteran pilot director David Nutter ("X Files," "Smallville," "Supernatural") is likely to direct.
