Dakota Johnson Reads A Card She Got From Mom, Melanie Griffith, For 'Ben And Kate' On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (VIDEO)

Dakota Johnson's Congrats Card From Mom, Melanie Griffith

Dakota Johnson joins several other somewhat familiar faces on new shows this fall when she stars in Fox's "Ben and Kate." But where do we know them from if we don't know them? It's because of their famous relatives. Johnson is the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith.

On "Jimmy Kimmel Live," the "Ben and Kate" star talked about how excited and supportive her mother has been throughout her acting career. In fact, Griffith has literally been there since the beginning, as Johnson played Griffith's daughter in the 1999 film "Crazy in Alabama."

Now 22-years-old, Johnson is taking her first foray into the world of television, with a starring role. She shared with Kimmel a card she received from her mother when she started the new job.

"I’m so f***ing proud of you! Have fun my angel," Johnson read. "Kisses, Mom. #proudmama" Yes, Melanie Griffith used a hashtag in a handwritten card, which cracked Kimmel up.

Tune in for the premiere of "Ben & Kate" on Tuesday September, 25 at 8:30 p.m. ET on Fox. "Jimmy Kimmel Live" can be seen weeknights at 12 a.m. ET on ABC.
