A lifeless body was found inside a truck at an Albertson's supermarket parking lot Thursday night, and cops deemed the death suspicious.
Investigators haven't yet confirmed the identity of the body, which was found zipped up in a sleeping bag inside a 1997 Toyota Forerunner in a small community in San Diego county. But NBC 7 reports that the truck belongs to 24-year-old Alvin Bulaoro, who has been missing since Dec. 21, family members on the scene said.
Bulaoro's family reportedly hired a private investigator, who searched for and found the vehicle in the parking lot. The body had been stuffed into a back seat, 10 News reports. Deputies were called around 7 p.m.
Family members were crying and holding one another at the scene, but it's unclear whether the victim is Bulaoro.
"At this point we don't know whose it is -- we don't even know if it is male or female -- just that it appears suspicious," San Diego Sheriff's Department Sgt. Patrick Yates told NBC 7. "The body is dead [and] the circumstances are suspicious."
Homicide detectives were called to investigate, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
