Let's hope the dowager doesn't hear this!
On Thursday night's episode of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," Michelle Dockery, Allen Leech and Hugh Bonneville of "Downton Abbey" stopped by to discuss the final season of their beloved PBS (or ITV, if you're in the U.K.) show.
While Colbert tried to explain while the show was so darn appealing to Americans, he offered the stars an acting challenge.
"I think one of the things that I suspect makes the show so alluring and seem somewhat like a fairy tale to us in the United States is just how plummy all your accents are," said Colbert to the actors. "We hear the accent and think of it as very classy. So, I'd like to try an experiment right now, if you don't mind. Can you guys try an American accent for me?"

They sound so ... normal! (At least, to us on this side of the pond.)
It's a little sad, because we prefer the posh British accents that make the stars (and characters) sound so much better.
Luckily, you can hear them sound more like their usual selves when "Downton" returns for its sixth (and final!) season Jan. 3 at 9 p.m. ET on PBS.
And if you're a big Michelle Dockery fan, TNT just announced that it will pick up the actresses' new show with Ellen Barkin.
