George H.W. Bush, Laura And Family Arrive In New York Following Cruise On Queen Mary 2

George Goes Cruising!

Former President George H. W. Bush and his family have arrived in New York following a seven-day transatlantic cruise on the Queen Mary 2, a 2,620-passenger ocean liner.

Bush 41 traveled with his wife, former First Lady Barbara Bush, their daughter Dorothy and their granddaughter, Georgia, on the famed cruise ship, which left from Southampton last Friday, according to a press release from Cunard, the owner of the Queen Mary 2.

It was the first transatlantic crossing by boat for the family. Prior to heading to England, Bush Senior told the Houston Chronicle, "I've always wanted to make a crossing. Never have."

Upon getting on the ship, Bush reiterated how excited he was. Barbara told USA Today that her husband had "been talking about nothing else for months."

The Chronicle reports that the 87-year-old's friends had teased him about crossing the Atlantic almost exactly 100 years after the Titanic hit an iceberg and sank. Bush, ever in form, quipped: "I think global warming has claimed the icebergs."
