Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday criticized first lady Melania Trump for promoting “Melania,” the documentary about herself that was just released on streaming, as President Donald Trump continued to wage war on Iran.
“While some might say that is not a, not a great look, to be plugging your vanity project while your husband’s bombing another country, Melania has never cared much about optics,” Kimmel said.
He called the $75 million film a frontrunner for the Razzies, the awards given to the year’s worst movies, then compared it to a flick that’s been nominated for a record 16 Oscars.
“Between this and ‘Sinners,’ it’s been a big year for vampire movies,” he cracked.
Kimmel showed a clip from the film in which Melania Trump speaks to her husband by phone on the evening that the 2024 election results were certified.
“Hi, Mr. President,” she said. “Congratulations.”
“Did you watch it?” her husband asked.
“I did not, I did not. I had meetings all day,” she replied, promising to “see it on the news.”
Melania Trump then offered some “yes” and “that’s for sure” type responses as Trump went on and on about how many electoral votes he got and how “nothing like it has happened before, ever.”
“That’s a good one,” she agreed.
Kimmel was laughing by the end of the clip.
“One of the funniest conversations I’ve ever heard,” Kimmel said. “It almost makes me feel a little bad for him. She does not care at all!”
