John McTiernan's Wife Speaks Out On Husband's Jail Sentence

'Die Hard' Director's Wife On Husband's Jail Sentence: Imagine Being Imprisoned For Something That Isn't A Crime

Gail Sistrunk McTiernan, wife of the famed "Die Hard" director John McTiernan, joined HuffPost Live to discuss her husband's jail sentence and proclaim his innocence.

A seemingly insignificant phone call back in 2006 quickly evolved into a seven-year legal battle. A man who identified himself as an FBI agent inquired about McTiernan's involvement with infamous private investigator Anthony Pellicano. McTiernan reportedly denied hiring Pellicano, a man known for wiretapping among other suspicious activities.

Currently serving time after having to "self-surrender," according to his wife, McTiernan has lost 40 pounds but is still managing to write.

"If you can imagine being prosecuted for something that isn't a crime and being imprisoned for something that isn't a crime... the charges are literally constitutionally flawed," Sistrunk McTiernan told host Alyona Minkovski.

"He's finding out that the prison is full of cases of prosecutorial abuse and overreach and that there are many people who don't even belong there," she continued.
