Consideré en mis adentros insignificantes que sí, que era balk, pero incapaz de engañar a nadie.
La información llega vía coleópteros de Major League Baseball, quienes oyeron a varios ejecutivos comentar que ya la innecesaria jugarreta le va a costar algo a todo lanzador que se le ocurra utilizarla.
Todavía durante 2012 se les permitirá exhibir tal ridiculez. Después, las Reglas les darán un alto bien sonoro a la cosa.
Tradicionalmente, los lanzadores han sido víctimas de las Reglas, porque ejecutivos y otros especímenes del beisbol han favorecido siempre a la ofensiva, pensando en que es lo que lleva gente a los estadios.
Por eso escondieron hasta donde pudieron el consumo de esteroides y anexas, por eso bajaron la lomita de lanzar en 10 pulgadas, por eso la carga pesada del designado, y por eso la Regla del balk no hay quien la entienda, porque cada umpire la aplica como le viene en gana.
Pero ésto de prohibir la salida en falso hacia tercera para tirar a primera, me parece en beneficio del pitcheo, porque lo depura, lo embellece, lo reduce a la elegancia que debe acompañar al eje del juego.
El respeto al beisbol comienza cuando el lanzador se monta sobre la lomita, pelota en mano, y comienza sus movimientos, porque cuando él suelta hacia home o hacia alguna base, comienza la acción.
Si cuidamos eso, estaremos protegiendo al juego de pelota que tanta protección necesita hoy día, abandonado como ha estado por los caza-dólares del comisionado Bud Selig y demás cómplices.
