Locks Of Love Gets Mullet Donation (VIDEO)

Cory Berry knew he would get stares while growing out his mullet. So, when he caught someone giving him a curious look, he handed over a card explaining his mission -- to donate hair to kids who have lost theirs, WHNT reports.

Berry, a Boy Scouts troop leader, spent 22 months growing out his 80s do to give it over to Locks of Love, a nonprofit that provides hairpieces to disadvantaged kids who have lost their hair due to a medical condition.

"I've used this as a lesson for all of the Scouts in the troop trying to encourage them to find ways to be charitable in their everyday life," Berry told the news outlet.

While Berry says he won't miss the hockey hair he sported in high school, he knows that the few embarrassing moments he had to bear, will give a child a much-needed boost.

"Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure," the nonprofit states on its website. "The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers."
