Via Curbed LA: While this isn't an original Lorcan O'Herhily, the architect did update this 1942 home in the 2000s upon the request of an old childhood friend to include a second story, an infinity pool and a cabana with fireplace. According to the home's official site, there are six parking spaces, three bedrooms and three baths. The master suite takes up the entire second floor and "reads like a luxury hotel suite."

O'Herlihy and his firm, Lorcan O'Herlihy Architects (LOHA), are more well-known for multi-family dwellings (see his West Hollywood 10-unit) and have just won the AIA LA Chapter's 2010 Firm Of The Year Award. In 2004, he spoke with the LA Times about designing for Los Angeles as it becomes a more dense city:

"What intrigues me most is how the city is changing," says O'Herlihy. "For a long time we saw all this horizontal sprawl. But now people who moved to the suburbs are coming back into urban areas. This is a big paradigm shift, and we'd better address it right now." People are going to keep coming in, land is going to keep going up. The days of the single-family dwelling may be dwindling.
