Manny Machado Robs Luis Cruz Of Hit With Outstanding Defensive Play (VIDEO)

WATCH: Orioles All-Star's Dazzling Defensive Play

Luis Cruz knows why Orioles third baseman Manny Machado is an All-Star.

With the O's trailing the Yankees 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Cruz hit a hard chopper up the line toward Machado. The 21-year-old quickly ranged to his right and tried to glove the ball off the hop but couldn't quite handle it. As the ball started to trickle away into foul territory, Machado barehanded it. He then rifled an off-balance throw across the diamond to first base as his momentum carried him closer to the seats.

Out. End of the inning.

"Oh mercy! Gonna see that one for a few years," screamed Orioles broadcaster Gary Thorne.

Thanks to Adam Jones' two-run homer off Mariano Rivera in the ninth inning, the Orioles were able win 2-1. After the game, Baltimore manager Buck Showalter was asked about Machado's play.

"When you can shake hands with the beer man in the front row after you get through with a play, you know it's pretty challenging," said Showalter, via Roch Kubatko of MASNsports.com.

The highlight reminded a few baseball media members of Orioles legend and Hall of Fame third baseman Brooks Robinson. Los That Sports Blog's G. Dixon even made a GIF that included both Machado and Robinson.
