Niagara Falls Boat Captain Saves Woman Swept Into Whirlpool (VIDEO)

Few boat captains can say they've commanded the forces of Niagara Falls, but that's just what Corey Ziraldo did -- and he saved a life while he was at it.

Lindsay Burgess and her fiance were hiking in the Devil's Hole area of Niagara Falls' Whirlpool State Park on Monday when she tried to reach down and touch the water below one of the world's most powerful waterfalls, ABC reports.

"I just wanted to touch the beauty," Burgess told the news outlet.

She slipped on the rocks and fell into the rapids, the whirlpool water whisking her away. Her fiance watched helpless on shore.

Ziraldo, captaining a Whirlpool Jet Tours boat, saw her body in the water as he passed by. He was able to steer the boat to her location and, with his crew, pull her out of the water and give her CPR.

"You gave me everything," Burgess told Ziraldo when the two met in the Buffalo, N.Y. hospital where she's recovering.
