La etapa de sanar y volver a estar en pie luego de un divorcio puede ser un período muy difícil. Sobre todo, cuando sientes que estás preparado para volver a empezar y deseas buscar la felicidad al lado de una persona que te acepte, ame y conquiste tu corazón.
Sin embargo, aún cuando parezca muy cuesta arriba encontrar esa persona que entienda tu proceso y acepte tu pasado, no debes permitir que tus experiencias anteriores te limiten a alcanzar aquello con lo que sueñas.
Para ayudar a personas divorciadas a encontrar un nuevo compañero de vida, Lee Block, experta en relaciones de pareja y divorcio, creó la página web de citas, Post-Divorce Dating Club, un lugar especialmente diseñado para conocer amistades que se encuentren en la misma situación. El sitio no sólo ofrece servicios por Internet, sino que también cuenta con consejos sobre la vida después del divorcio, para volver a salir en citas y eventos para conocer a nuevas personas.
Aparte de esta útil herramienta, Block ofrece algunos pasos para personas que se han divorciado recientemente o están pasado por este proceso pero buscan volver a amar y ser amados:
- Paso #1: Admite que has tocado fondo
Has tratado todo lo que estaba a tu alcance para que tu matrimonio funcionara pero ya no se puede hacer más nada. Tienes que admitir que has tocado fondo y estás preparado para superarlo y salir de esa situación. Además, debes entender que esta decisión los afectará tanto a ti como a tu pareja y tus niños, en caso de que tengas. "Estas tomando la decisión de comenzar completamente fresco y de cero lo que puede causar miedo y necesitarás más valor de lo que posiblemente pensabas que tenías.", Block comenta.
- Paso #2: Toma responsabilidad de tu parte sobre terminar el matrimonio
Se necesitan dos personas para que funcione o fracase una relación. El tomar responsabilidad provee crecimiento y poder, y más importante aun, perdón y sanación. Block comparte, "Yo sé que algunas personas han sido infieles o han abusado de su pareja, y claro está, esos casos no entran dentro de esta categoría, pero por lo general, cuando el amor muere, los dos son culpables de ello".
- Paso #3: Debes estar preparado para estar soltero o ser un padre soltero
"Si no estás preparado para las realidad de estar soltero o ser un padre soltero, entonces probablemente no estás preparado para el divorcio.", comenta Block. Tendrás que estar presente 24/7, ya sea por tus hijos o por ti mismo. Es una buena idea hacer una agenda y un presupuesto para mantener todo en orden. Toma el tiempo para relajarte y sacar un momento para ti cada día para ayudarte a mantener la cordura y estar en tu centro.
- Paso #4: Cuenta tus bendiciones
El divorcio puede hacerte perder la noción de lo que es realmente importante así que recuerda ser agradecido por lo que ya tienes incluyendo tus hijos, familia, amistades, hogar, comida, salud y hasta tu mascota, si es que tienes una. Cuenta tus bendiciones y verás que cada día será mucho mejor. "Se agradecido de que aunque tu vida no es perfecta luego del divorcio, probablemente es mejor de lo que era cuando estabas casado", dice Block.
- Paso #5: Establece metas y sueños para el futuro
Antes de que te casaras tenías tus propias metas, pero luego éstas cambiaron cuando dijiste, "sí, acepto", y naturalmente adoptaste los deseos y necesidades de tu pareja poniendo los tuyos a un lado. Ahora que eres soltero nuevamente, haz una lista y una promesa a ti mismo de que alcanzarás aquellas cosas que soñaste un día. "Escribe tus metas para tu futuro en seis meses, un año, cinco años y diez años. Visualiza cómo será cuando tus hijos crezcan. Lee lo que hayas escrito constantemente para monitorear el progreso de aquello que te has propuesto.", explica Block.
