Jackie is a 19-year-old senior at John McDonogh High, the struggling school currently featured on the OWN docu-series "Blackboard Wars." In this advance clip from the March 9, 2013, episode, the teen mom returns to school and faces a month's worth of make-up work after the birth of her baby, whose father is also a student at John McDonogh.
"It's my first day back at school," says Jackie. "I'm kind of nervous, kind of scared about what everybody's going to say and what their reactions are going to be. My mom's watching my baby; she wants me to get my education. Because my uncle is the only person who's got his high school diploma, so my mom wants me to be the next."
"It's very important for her to graduate, especially with her being a teenage mom," explains John McDonogh school counselor Ms. Riley. "She has to be the role model."
